Führungszeugnis — Certificate of conduct
To request from the Federal Office of Justice the certificate often required by an employer or an authority.
The form is downloaded and submitted on the authority's website.
What this form is for
- Get an extract from the Federal Central Criminal Register (Bundeszentralregister), for yourself or to present to an authority.
- An extended certificate (erweitertes Führungszeugnis) exists for work with children and young people, on written request from the employer or organisation.
Documents to have ready
- A valid ID card or passport
- To apply online: a German ID card with the online function activated and the AusweisApp
- For the extended certificate: the employer's or organisation's written request
Where to send it
Online on the fuehrungszeugnis.bund.de portal, in person at your local residents' registration office (Bürgeramt), or in writing from abroad with a certified signature (consulate, notary).
