Form BE — Income tax return for resident employees

The annual income tax return for Malaysian tax residents with no business income, filed online (e-BE) or on paper.

The form is downloaded and submitted on the authority's website.

What this form is for

Report to Malaysia's Inland Revenue Board (LHDN, also known as HASiL) your employment income for the year and claim your reliefs. Form BE is for residents who do not carry on a business; those who do use Form B.

Documents to have ready

  • Your Tax Identification Number (TIN) and your identity card or passport number
  • The yearly statement of remuneration from your employer and details of any other income
  • Evidence for the reliefs you claim; read the form's explanatory notes before filling it in

Where to send it

  • Online on the MyTax portal (e-BE); on first login you need to register a digital certificate. A paper return is sent to the office named by HASiL.
  • HASiL publishes the deadlines each year; filing online gives you a little more time than paper.

Our tips

  • Always download the latest version from the official site.
  • Keep a copy of what you send, with the date you sent it.
